Deep Thoughts

A letter to my first-ever iPod.

Dear Pink,

As of this writing, I know you’re already in the Philippines and that you’re probably in the presence of my dear parents. I’m envious of you. Buti ka pa sa Pinas magpa-Pasko, ako hindi.

Starting next year, you will have a new mummy…and a new home. My parents will hand you over to her. Be good to your new mummy. I already warned her of your “mood swings” (read: nagha-hang hehe). Don’t worry, you’ll be okay as I know that she’s more patient than I am. And she will really take good care of you.

I just realized today (at this very moment) that I never even had the chance to take a photograph of you. I’m sorry, I never meant to take you for granted. Just tell your new mummy this: “Please return me to my mummy Ibyang should I have an accident (read: masira) or if you don’t want me anymore.” I know it might take a long while before I see you again but you will always a place in my home (wherever that may be).

Lastly, I miss you. However, I’m comforted with the thought that you will be making someone very happy when she sees you.

Love,

Mummy Ibyang 🙂

According to this site, this is me:

Much of the time you are preoccupied with things of an intensely exciting nature. You need stimulation and variation with all matters pertaining to your life. You want to be regarded as an exciting and interesting personality being able to charm and influence others. You use powerful strategies with predictable outcomes so as to avoid endangering your chances of success or undermining other people’s confidence in you.

You are willing to try anything once. You ‘need to be needed’ and what is perhaps more important you ‘need to need.’
You can only feel close to a person or persons when you feel you can trust them, but this trust needs to be proven to you.

All the problems that you have been experiencing of late seem to have become a part of your life and there is little that can be done to change the situation. Your emotions run high – but even though you feel as if at times you are about to burst this situation will pass. Try to release your pent-up emotions by participating in some extra physical activities like running, swimming, whatever. There must be some favourite pastime, not necessarily strenuous, that can help you to relax.

You are being unduly influenced by the situation that is all around you. You do not like the feeling of loneliness and whatever it is that seems to separate you from others. You know that life can be wonderful and you are anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to live it to the full. You therefore resent any restriction or limitations that are being imposed on you and you insist on going it alone.

You don’t like authority and you rebel against all forms of limitation. You are your own person and you intend to stay that way and to get on in the world simply by your hard work and determination.

* I’ve highlighted the ones is true (based on how I see myself).

* It’s funny that in this kind of assessment, the word “charm” came out. Coincidence or Fate?

Since I started writing down my Christmas Wish List last year, I might as well continue on with this tradition.

Just like last year, I will be specific with my wish list. I will start with the most important thing that anyone can give to me:

From ANYONE who knows me (family, relatives, friends and online buddies–here and abroad), if you ever think of me this Christmas, don’t buy me a Christmas card or gift, instead I encourage you to do any one of these:

  • add P30.00 (if you live in the Phils) or $10.00 (those living abroad) in the Christmas Mass Offertory
  • give a bag of groceries to your parish church or to a less fortunate family in your neighborhood
  • sort out your closet and gather up the clothes and shoes you don’t wear anymore and donate it to an institution or orphanage
  • cook a simple merienda and ask some of the less fortunate kids in your neighborhood to join you.
  • give a cash donation to a foundation of your choice.

This was also my wish last year, only that I added the last bit about a cash donation to a foundation of your choice, and only that it is now first on my wishlist.

I honestly, am not yearning (or desiring–you know, like sobrang gustong-gusto ko) for any material thing this Christmas. I’d rather that we do a good deed and make someone happy this season and that will be enough for me.

From Myself

  • The gift of learning – one of my goals this year is (was?) to enrol in a coffee school but I still haven’t done it but I really am determined to enrol as soon as the “hectic-ness” of my life subsides
  • The gift of inner peace and healing – I have faced so many nerve-wrecking challenges this year and a part of my heart and sanity has been very very hurt so I’m praying that my inner peace comes back and for the healing of my heart.

In terms of material thing, I have no idea what to give to myself. It has been my tradition to reward myself something during Christmas but as I’ve said, I’m not yearning enough for something to push me to buy anything for myself. We’ll see. Pwede rin naman delayed ang gift ko sa sarili ko.

From Chris

This is one matter that hasn’t been resolved yet! There are a couple of options that he’s offered to give me but *sigh* (here we go again) I don’t have that certain desire to want something so bad. Last Sunday, we were discussing (how tedious is that? hehe) about it because the issue is I always say “I don’t need it.” But then the truth of the matter is, it’s Christmas and it’s okay to just “want” and not “need”. Bahala na, I still have time to think about it. His offers, by the way, includes an iPod (nano coz it’s the only kind of iPod i want anyway), an iPhone, a Wii or a Canon point and shoot.

From My Parents

  • Commitment to being healthy.
  • For them to visit us next year.

From my relatives and friends here in Sydney–kung trip nyo talaga akong bigyan, you can choose from these:

  • aromatheraphy candles
  • diffusers
  • anything for the house

So there, my wishlist.

Advance Happy Christmas! Hope all your wishes come true!

Busy and pre-occuppied last week, we decided to eat in last Thursday and celebrate our 22nd wedding monthsary at home. I baked Barramundi fish and cooked Broccoli with Oyster Sauce especially for our little milestone.

Today, we continued our quiet celebration by paying a visit to St. Mary’s Cathedral after work and had a cheap dinner of KFC and Spinach Canneloni at Myer.

My husband and I can talk about anything under the sun–may it be stupid, trivial or intellectual. As we walked out of St. Mary’s Cathedral, we saw three newlywed couples (in their Bride and Groom attire) having their post-nuptial pictorial outside the church. The husband and I smiled at one of the couple. And I can’t help but giggle too. It reminded us of how it was for us when we got married. Whenever I see a couple in their pre-nuptial or post-nuptial shoots I can’t help but gush for them, I love love love seeing people inlove, i love seeing people getting married. 🙂

Anyway, going back to my husband and I being able to talk of anything under the sun. After seeing those three newlywed couples, I asked the Husband that if we’d ever have the chance to do it (prepare for a wedding and get married) again, would we ever do it??? We paused for a moment and we both answered, “No”. And then we laughed.

It’s not that we regret being married to each other (I think it’s too early for that har har), but to prepare for a wedding again??? We would gladly say “No” even if you pay for us to plan another wedding.

The thing was when we planned our wedding…when we had the wedding, we gave it our all. We cherished every minute of every hardwork we put into that once -in-a-lifetime celebration. In our eyes, it was as perfect as it could be and we can never ask for anything more.

And the reality is, right after the honeymoon, you can never really think much of your wedding simply because you are happy being a husband or a wifey to your partner. And I guess that’s what we are now, happy being who we are to each other. Weddings may have been fun and memorable but married life is so much better.

This is one of the most exhausting work-weeks of my life in Australia:
– for the first time that I’ve worked here, I brought work home on Tuesday. When I moved here I swore I’ll never bring work home EVER especially now that I’m a wife already. I have made a rule (for myself) that home is just for homely activities.
– I’ve never heard so many F-words in my life this week. My team seems to be swearing so much, it’s really not funny anymore. I’ve heard myself say the F-word once or twice and that is a sign that I’m really getting frustrated on some things.
– heard myself say “Dammit!” so many times. I’m not an F-word user, so “Dammit” is my default word when getting pissed off.
– the pile on my desk seemed to have doubled since last week, when before there was never a pile there!
*sigh* This too shall pass. I really hope, for our sanity’s sake, that next week will be less hectic for us. Thank God this work-week is over. I can’t wait for the weekend to begin.
