Deep Thoughts

On what I wrote on my previous entry:

“There were some things that happened this year that made me say “Had I known this would happen, I would’ve stayed in Manila.” And since something like that occured, it also made me think again if I was meant to be here.”

…the statement had nothing to do with the country whatsoever. Australia has been good to me in so many ways (and they have been good to other people in general). From the start, this country has made immediate means for me to stay here (a job just after a week that I’ve moved here is one clear example). If there are times when I would like to go home, it is just ME and my issues in life. As a migrant, it is easy to say “I wanna go back” especially when you know that you still have people you have left behind where you came from. BUT I also know that the act of doing such a thing is hard simply because I HAVE A LIFE HERE NOW…this is my life now–my career and my small family is here. 🙂 I have made a life here because I’m happy here too.

I know that there are a couple of friends from the Phils who read my entries on Australia because they want to know how great a country this is, because they also have plans of moving here. Regardless of my so-called issues in life, I do recommend that moving in Australia is a good option for those who want to have a change of life.

Yun lang pow! Magandang Umaga sa inyong lahat!

Things I Learned Yesterday and Today:

Even if you have good intentions, people around you will somehow still find faults in you, judge and criticize you unfairlyIbyang

Life is too short to stress yourself with people who don’t even deserve to be an issue in your life… – from Janis

That’s why from now on:

(1) I won’t trust those kind of people again—those ones whom I thought were really nice then in the end, they were the ones who were mean and inconsiderate. No, I will never believe them again…EVER!

(2) I won’t postpone my plans just because I want to be of service to these kind of people.

(3) I will bring back the bitch in me so I could at least protect my family.

Once burned, never again.

…that’s all I could say right after our team meeting a few minutes ago.
Good news: We will only train about 20 groups next year and that the first group for 2009 will start on the 2nd week of February (yoohoo!). Such a big difference from how 2008 looked for us.
Not-so-good news: Our department had to cut 14 positions and our team will be greatly affected: 1 Training Administrator and 4 Project Officers will end their contracts on 31 December. I almost had a heart attack when I heard this…but what can we do??? None. Change is the only permanent thing in this world.
Good news: All 14 positions will just be moved to a different department…in the end, we still have jobs. At the end of the day, that is most important. I will miss those who will move but knowing our office, we will eventually find ourselves working with each other again.
There’s also some bit I learned about the state I’m working for, but I can’t divulge it. But to those who are living here in NSW I’ll leave you a piece of advice: please save save and save…and love your job. Count your blessings and at the same time, save your “blessings”. I know we say this all the time, I know that we know this…but it surely is more substanstial when you see changes happening around you (and you’re told that there will be more changes to come). It doesn’t hurt to do reality checks once in a while and heed pre-cautionary warnings.

I was at a bookstore yesterday and I found a book on interior design for houses and restaurants.

And because of that book, I finally know what theme or interior design I want for our future home. Yay!

Two words: Modern and Asian.

I know it seems kinda simple and you might say “Modern and Asian lang pala”.

But no, no, no, no, no…when it’s me you are talking about, I’m not that simple when it comes to details. I may have simple ideas on a macro level but I become complicated when it comes to the little things.

Last night, when I told husband about the theme I want, he was nodding and I saw a flicker of agreement 🙂 so I think he likes it too.

There is no house yet…but having a theme in mind is a start…an inspiration…something to look forward to.

…and most importantly my Husband is managing well.

Things have been sorted out in the Phils, with Chris’ Mama being incharged of everything. To everyone who has messaged, emailed, called us and gave generously: Thank you very much. Your gestures are of great comfort to us.

After work, we met up to attend mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral in the City. Since the mass was at 5:30PM, we had an early dinner at Asagao, a Japanese restaurant with sushi train.

Sushi Train in Asagao

Gusto kong maaliw ng konti si Chris kaya ko sya dinala dun. Since he came here in Sydney, he has expressed interest in eating sushi. So I thought today would be a perfect way for that. I think it worked naman.

When I took photos of him and asked him to smile, nag-smile naman.

Pero pag di mo siya kinakausap, makikita mo sa eyes nya na malungkot sya.

Another good sign is that he got the camera and took photos too.

After our quick dinner, we headed off to St. Mary’s Cathedral. Right after the mass, as we were walking in Hyde Park, Chris told me that he felt better, that he felt lighter after attending the mass. I think that’s what we call Grace of God diba? I believe that little acts of faith does a lot of wonder for the mind and spirit. As long as you bring yourself to God in any circumstance, he will comfort you.

He also said “thank you” to me for accompanying him to church and for all my help which made me really happy today.
