Food

The answer to my craving for something Korean and Pepper Lunch—Kimuchi Beef!

Pepper Lunch’s Kimuchi Beef is simply their Beef Pepper Rice with Kimchi.  The server will ask you to stir your sizzling plate and so you should stir it while it is still hot. In a minute or two, the beef and rice turns brown and the aroma of Kimchi will fill the air.

I drizzle my beef with garlic sauce to make it more flavourful.  Hmmm, I’m in beef and kimchi heaven.  I wouldn’t mind having this all the time.

Another discovery this week! Pepper Lunch Sydney has a website.  Check out more about them here.

My Husband and I love Mexican food and we’re so glad to have found a Mexican restaurant that serve good food not so far away from where we live.

Tequila's on Main

The moment we entered Tequila’s on Main, I knew there was something special about this restaurant.  The restaurant was cozy and classy at the same time.

They also have alfresco dining for those who want dine outdoors.

We were served with crunchy and buttery garlic bread while we waited for our appetizers.

In just a few minutes our entrees arrived: Crisp Tacos and Fat Chips.

Two tacos filled with beef topped with lettuce, cheese, onion, tomato and salsa.  Not very tasty but good enough to eat.  I loved how they presented it though.  My Husband and I noticed that they used a slice of orange for the tacos to lean unto.  Clever.

The Fat Chips topped with melting cheese and bacon bits were a winner.  The chips were chunky and toppings of bacon were generous.

It took awhile for the main dishes to arrive.  We didn’t mind though as we needed a bit of a rest from our satisfying entrees.

For the mains, we had a big serving of BBQ ribs.  Smoked pork BBQ ribs slowly cooked and covered in Tequila’s BBQ sauce.  It was so tasty and the meat so tender it just fell off the bone.

Our second main dish was the Rib Eye Steak with mushroom sauce.  I like my steak cooked medium so the meat will be juicy and flavourful.  I was tempted to ask the chef for the recipe of this dish because it was good.  There was a siding of cream potatoes and salad.

Service was great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.  We asked if we can take away our leftovers and they obliged.  We’d love to come back again and try their Sangria and Quesadillas.

It’s been three weeks since I’ve taken a day-off and I’ve never been more glad to finally have time off from work today.  For days, I’ve been looking forward to just-being-a-wifey as I haven’t been having wifey hours—it’s just been crazy at work (my motto the whole week was “this too shall pass” and i pray that work will go back to its normal pace).

This morning, I went to market and shopped for raw produce.  Went back home to have an omelette-black coffee-and-strawberries breakfast.  Then I started cooking Chicken Arroz Caldo and Tokwa’t Baboy (will share the recipe soon!).  I was able to do 80% of both dishes before having lunch.  After lunch, it was finally “me” time!  Two episodes of “Chuck”, a good read of one of the “Shopaholic” book series and a two & a half hour nap. I feel great!  Refreshed, revived, happy.

I messaged the Husband that his Chicken Arrozcaldo and Tokwa’t Baboy’s waiting for him and he thought it was a great surprise.  He then messaged “I also have a surprise for you” back at me.

He surprised me with a slice of Chocolate Mud Cake…

And with that, he said it was his way of saying “Thank you for cooking delicious homemade meals at home”.  Awwwww.  It’s just a small gesture and yet it melted my heart.  Thank God for understanding, sweet and generous husbands, right?

Now I’m off to enjoy my Friday night watching koreanovelas and having Peppermint Tea with this sinfully delicious cake.

Happy weekend everyone!

Green Mangoes are back!  A sign that spring is nearly here.   Yes, I’m counting the days til the weather is warm and one can do away with heavy coats or jackets.
Ensaladang Mangga
Whenever green mangoes are available here in Australia, I make the most of it by buying at least two green mangoes once every fortnight.

I usually make “Ensaladang Mangga” (Green Mango Salad) to go with any dish we have for lunch or dinner.  I enjoy eating this with fish dishes the most.  Tonight, we are having this Ensaladang Mangga with Fried Tilapia.  Yum!

This is probably one of the easiest salads to make.  Just chop your green mangoes, tomato, onion, then add a teaspoon or two of “bagoong” or shrimp paste (I use Barrio Fieta’s bagoong).  Mix them all together and voila!  You now have Ensaladang Mangga to enjoy.  If you want your salad to have that spicy kick, just add chili.

Do you like Ensaladang Mangga too?
