We discovered Jonga Jip Korean BBQ Restaurant during our Summer Fri-date in February.  The restaurant is located at Eastwood, a suburb that has a Little Korean Town.

We had early dinner to avoid the crowd. This was where we experienced the most number of Banchan Dishes, it filled up the whole table.  We had two plates of meat (pork belly and beef) for BBQ and a small pot of Kimchi Stew.

Their meats are delicious and juicy even if what we ordered were the “un-marinated” ones. The beef and pork were thinly sliced and cooked in just a few minutes.

The Kimchi Stew was tasty and had the kind of heat to warm up the tongue. It surprisingly had the balanced ratio of pork and vegetables.

This restaurant may be a bit far from where we live but eating at Jonga Jip made it worth it. I consider Jonga Jip one of the best Korean restaurants in Sydney Metro.

I finally found a brand of Coconut Water that I love–C Coconut Water.

With so many manufacturers of coconut water/coconut juice in the market, it took me awhile to find the one I like. I found this at IKEA‘s food court, bought it during check-out and brought it home. Didn’t think much of it and wasn’t even excited to try it. Only on Monday when I had lunch that I decided to drink it.

Unlike other brands, C Coconut Water tastes like it’s from the shell, natural and fresh. There’s a faint of sweetness coming from coconut juice which I really love.  The best part is finding that it’s made in the Philippines

If you want to buy C Coconut Water, check out their website https://ccoconutwater.com/ to buy online and for the list of Stockists.

I’ve got lots of foodie adventures that needs to be written (as always) and an article deadline this week so for now, let me share a collage of how we celebrated the birthday of the man behind this blog, Chris, simply called “the Husband”.

There is a pattern as to how we celebrate our birthdays.  It usually includes not going to work (we make a long weekend out of it), delicious food, great company, shopping and travel. This year, we had a quiet celebration in Sydney which started on Friday.

We headed out to Cabramatta, Sydney’s Vietnam-town on Friday morning, had our first taste of Vietnamese coffee (it was wonderful!), explored the streets and shopped at the markets. Before we left, we had lunch at one Pho Viet. In the evening, we brought Chinese food to my aunt’s place and had dinner with relatives.

Went out early on Sunday to have breakfast at IKEA. We bought a few storage solution items because my project this Spring is to make our home more efficient by having organised cabinets.

Monday, his birthday, we went out to hear mass and had lunch at Asadal, a Korean-Japanese restaurant in Parramatta. At home for dinner, I cooked my first ever Pancit Bihon which we enjoyed with Roast Pork.

We ended the day watching the beautiful sunset at home while he blew out a candle and savoured the cupcakes I got him.
I’ve shared my experience with drinking Rice Coffee, now let me share with you my Corn Coffee experience. Thanks again to my friend Majo for sending this over to me.
Corn Coffee From The Philippines

The Pinaig Na Mais or Corn Coffee is made by AdvoCafe, a unique coffee shop which sells organic products such as coffee, tea and corn coffee.

Like rice coffee, corn coffee is a healthy drink that does not contain caffeine. It comes from ground, roasted corn and is high in fibre, helps in managing diabetes, prevents cardiovascular disease, lowers hypertension, reduces cholesterol level, minimizes risk of colon cancer, and prevents neural-tube defects in infants. {source

A good alternative to drinking caffeinated drinks. The texture is grainy so I use a french press to make it smoother.

MAKE LACE NOT WAR

It was an opportune time to be at the Powerhouse Museum when the Love Lace Exhibition was shown together with the Harry Potter Exhibition. I have mentioned of my love for textiles before and I was ecstatic to see a lace exhibition for the first time.  Lace is one of my favourite fabrics (next to silk and satin) because of its intricate and meaningful designs, the details and hardwork that goes into creating them, and the romance and mystery it brings to those who wear them.

The exhibition showcased the things one can do to lace, may it be in the form of dresses, boots, gloves, jewellery and artwork. It was a small exhibition but it was a beautiful showcase. I hope you enjoy some of the photos I took from the exhibition as much as I loved seeing them.

Want to see more of the Love Lace Exhibition? You can buy the book here.
