When it comes to being clean in the home, my logic has always been: IF YOU SMELL SOMETHING NOT GOOD, THEN IT MUST BE DIRTY. And if it is dirty, then it is not home to me. Simple, diba? Siyempre hindi, nakakapagod kaya maglinis. But in the name of cleanliness, I’d rather be exhausted than live in a dirty and stinky place. Not to mention that the husband is also keen when it comes to cleanliness in the home.

When we arrived in our unit on the first night we got the keys, the unit was clean but it smelled old and dusty. We inspected the unit thoroughly and discovered that the cupboards were not that clean, there were stains as well. The kitchen and floors had a bit of grease. There was a lot of work to be done.

I had three angels in the guise of cleansing agents that helped me make our new home feel like a home to us.

In every cupboard, cabinet and surface, we applied these cleansers:

White King Surface Spray. It has a bleaching ingredient so it is very effective in making off-white white again. Its main ingredient is for killing E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella and Staphylococcus. It can also remove molds and soap scum.

Oomph Degreaser. To make sure that we eliminate grease on every surface.

Glen 20. Disinfectant spray that eliminates odours, kills germs and a scent that lasts.

Let me introduce you to Tupperware’s HAPPY CHOPPER.

Inside this innovative kitchen tool are double-edged blades that spins by simply twisting the cover.

When chopping onions: (1) Peel onions. (2) Cut into quarters. (3) Put onions inside the Happy Chopper. (4) Close the lid.

(5) Then twist! Twist until desired sized of chopped onions are achieved.

And voila! Chopped onions without the tears and smelly fingers

The Happy Chopper can also be used for dicing: garlic, fruit, vegetables and nuts.

It also comes with a separate bowl cover so that you can always store chopped onions inside your fridge.

Happy choppin’!

My weekend started on Thursday night as I took a day-off from work on Friday.

Birthday Celebration of Louie and Teena at Pancakes on the Rocks. Dessert at Max Brenner near Wynyard Station. Our (husband and I) first time to eat Max Brenner at this branch. More photos here.

Friday was spent going to the bank, shopping for home stuff and a little of groceries for the pantry. Afternoon til evening was spent cooking, afternoon napping, watching Heroes, cleaning the home and doing laundry.

Saturday was busy. Morning appointment at the clinic for my first Hepa-B vaccine (as part of my pre-pregnancy prep), furniture shopping and doing household chores at home. We’re very happy to have found and ordered a bed frame, two bedside tables, a tallboy and a sofabed. We also bought a small bookshelf and a his-and-her camping chair. Can’t wait for our stuff to be delivered.

Sunday was a bit busy too as I was able to unpack two small luggages and a box, did laundry and cook. It was also the Husband’s first time to have work on a Sunday here (read: OT) so I was left by my lonesome watching old movies while sorting out our stuff. To end my long weekend, I rewarded myself with a warm bubble bath.

As I end this entry, I’m waiting for Husband to arrive home so we can end the night by watching an episode of a Koreanovela we’re currently watching.
