From news.com.au:

The Apple Store Sydney is the second largest of its kind after the Apple Store in Regent St, London. It spans three floors and offers personal shopping, free computer training, and a 20m-long “Genius Bar” staffed by Apple experts. It will also host exclusive iTunes Live music performances starting on July 3rd.

Because Chris was very very excited when he learned that an Apple Store will open in Sydney, we went to yesterday’s opening to join the crowd in welcoming the 1st Apple Store in the Southern Hemisphere.

It was simply an unbelievable and happy occassion in Sydney last night. We weren’t able to go inside the store but we were equally happy just waiting outside for the store open and felt everyone’s excitement around us.

Here are some photos we took:

At 3:00PM the Apple staff were waving to Apple customers outside

Customers waited outside the Apple store, brought their chairs and camped out a night before the opening. The first customer that entered the Apple Store came from America.

(4:45PM) Onlookers at the other side of the street

At exactly 5:00PM, the Apple Store opened!!!

(5:15PM) Three levels of “Apple-ness”

The one who dreams of owning a Mac someday, He just had to have a photo with the Apple Store before we left.

This was the most dangerous shoot we’ve ever done so far as we had to go from one side of the street to another. At one point we also had a stampede scare when the Apple Store was about to open because there was just so many people infront of the Apple Store. But it was all good and we were exhilarated that we were able to rub elbows with some of the photographers from newspapers and TV networks. We will go back on Monday to explore the Apple Store inside.

Last Friday (30 May), Husband and I finally found the time to have dinner at Pepper Lunch.

I’ve been wanting to try out this restaurant for weeks because according to my cuzin the steaks are really really yummy. I love steaks and I heard that this restaurant is unique on how they serve the food, so that intrigued me more.

Pepper Lunch is a fastfood restaurant which originated from Tokyo, Japan that serves steak in metal hot plates. Raw steaks, beef, chicken, fish (whatever you ordered really) on hot plates will be served to you and you will be the one to cook them based on your preference (whether medium, rare, or well-done).

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted in Japanese by their pretty smiling waitress. I don’t remember the words she said as I was already busy looking at the interiors of the place but whatever she said, she must have meant “Good evening, welcome to Pepper Lunch!” (hehe).

Since the restaurant’s concept is fastfood, you have to order at the counter and pay first. We studied the menu carefully as we were overwhelmed by the many choices and finally we asked the friendly waitress what their specialty is. Of course she said, “Steaks!”. That didn’t help much coz we know we’re here for the steaks but still we wanted a little enlightenment on the menu. Good thing, she elaborated a bit more seeing that our faces were still blank after her response.

With the help of the menu, she pointed out that the first row (from Meals 1-3) are their rice meals; the second and third rows (from Meals 4-11) are their steaks; and the fourth row (Meals 12-15) are their Combo Meals. And finally she said that most customers order the “Tokusen” Rib Eye Steak (Meal 8) and the Beef Pepper Rice (Meal 1). With that premise, we focused on the Steak Meals and ordered a Rib Eye Steak for me and a Hamburger Steak for Chris.

The interiors of the resto is simple, nothing flashy…very Japanese in a way, but it appeared cozy due to the dominance of yellowish color and soft lighting.

Our orders took 5 minutes to arrive. The waiter asked us if we know what to do and we said we don’t coz it’s our first time, so he demostrated how we’re going to cook our steaks.

First, we had to spread the butter on top of the steaks.

When the waiter said “butter”, were were like “nasaan ang butter?” Yun pala brown yung butter nila, we were looking for yellow butter.

After spreading the butter on top of our steaks, we flipped our steaks.

Before that first bite

The steaks were really delicious, tender and easy to chew. There are sauces (sweet and not so sweet) available for those who prefer to strengthen the flavour of the steaks. The smell and the taste were really yummy. When I looked at the menu to see where they get their beef, where else but Australia and New Zealand…kaya naman pala 🙂

The verdict?

Aylabeet!!!!! Pepper Lunch is my newest favorite resto and I will be coming back for more 🙂 As you can see on the photo above, parang dinaanan ng bagyo ang hot plates namin hehehe.

After our yummy and enjoyable dinner, our weekly date won’t be complete without dessert and so I took Chris to one of my favorite Dessert Cafes in the City, Passion Flower.

Passion Flower’s Funky Chairs

Passion Flower is known for their mouth-watering Ice Creams of different flavors (they even have Mango!!!). I initially wanted to order Ice Cream but it was cold so we opted to have hot chocolates instead. I got myself the normal Hot Chocolate while Chris had the White Chocolate. Their chocolates were yummy and not so sweet, just right to the tastebuds.

Pepper Lunch and Passion Flower are both located at George Street Sydney, near Townhall Station.

Pepper Lunch Manila is now open at The Rockwell Powerplant Mall. Their beef is imported from Australia and New Zealand. Their prices start from P235.00 for the rice meals; while P345.00-P660.00 for the steaks.

I know, I know. It’s not good to start the week being exhausted but what can i do? At least I’m happy .

Husband and I had a very busy, hectic but productive weekend as we were able to do a little exploring, hang out with relatives and friends, help in the birthday party of my cuzin Patrick, do household chores, update my website AND (the biggest and of all) cover two events. Multi-tasking to the max at strike anywhere ang drama namin *whew!

Yes!!! We are now covering events 🙂 Oh well, it’s not really a big deal (not yet anyway) but at least we are going somewhere with regards to our passion for photography. (Our first event was the christening of my godson Caleb last month, then this month, the birthday parties of Patrick.)

Patrick had two birthday parties and we both covered them: Saturday night and Sunday afternoon (which was yesterday).

Saturday was party at home for families and friends so it was kinda easy.

Sunday was challenging as it was a bowling party for kids.

Photographing kids is one thing. Photographing kids in a bowling alley is another. Imagine, these kids are kids: small and tiny and we expect them to bowl? Ayayay! My arms hurt not because of clicking and holding the camera but because I had to help the kids carry the bowling ball so they can at least roll them over to the alley. At ang hirap kuhanan ng mga bata kasi since bowling ito, nakatalikod sila pag tumira. Chris and I had to go to the middle of the bowling alley (which was off limits to us really) in order to have some frontal shots of the kids while playing.

After they played one game, we had to go to the dining area so the kids can eat their snacks and where Patrick will blow candles on his cake. These kids are about 6-7 years of age and are very active. Ang gugulo at ang iingay. We had to shout a bit to get their attention for the group photos or for them to at least smile at the camera.

I swear, when Chris and I lied down to our bed last night, we were dead tired and we were like “Ang sakit ng katawan ko lalo na ang arms ko, ang hirap pala mag-cover ng bowling party.”

But here’s the thing, we were both smiling and really really happy how the parties for Patrick turned out and how fulfilling it was that we were the ones who captured a very important part of his life.

And I love being able to photograph kids 🙂 I love seeing them smile on my viewfinder. I love it when they smile because they realize I’m taking a photo of them. I love seeing their unpretentious expressions especially their laughter. Being with kids is such a natural high.

I’m happy-exhausted today but I’m in a really good mood. It’s a Monday and yet I have a smile in my heart 🙂 all because i was blessed by little angels yesterday.
