After playing badminton, we went straight to Ribs and Rumps for lunch. The restaurant is located in the vicinity of Sydney Olympic Park, a few blocks away from where we played. Very convenient. Plus, our friend Rich and Rache highly recommended the ribs in this resto. So ribs it was! We were game to taste something new anyway, it’s been awhile since we’ve dined out.

We arrived at around 1:30pm, lunch was still in full swing. Parking on the side street was full but we managed to find a few spots not too far away from the resto. The resto was also full but we were lucky the waitress was able to give us a table in such short notice.

Ribs and Rumps has a welcoming ambience. Cozy interiors with accents of red and a fusion of wood and stone.

The first thing I noticed when we sat, was their logo imprinted on their every plate, serviettes (a.k.a. table napkins), and knives. It was fascinating and I love it!

We were given our drinks first. My husband and I both ordered orange juice.

While waiting for our orders, we were given this big R&R bibs. Cute!!!

Our order didn’t take long, took approximately 15 minutes. Tada!!!!

Husband and I ordered the Ribs and Rumps Original which consists of half a slab of pork ribs, 2 slabs of lamb ribs and a 250gram Rump Steak. It comes with a siding of fried chips (a.k.a. fries).

I always want my steak medium-cooked and top it with Mushroom Sauce. R&R’s rump steak is good. It is not the best steak I’ve tasted but it is satisfying for me.

Their ribs, however, is the best ribs I’ve ever tasted. I LOVE IT!!!! It is now my favorite ribs in the whole world (that’s how good it is!). Their ribs are very tasty and juicy, and there’s something about their sauce that wets the appetite.

And their chips is something else, i love it too! It’s crunchy outside but chewy inside.

I honestly didn’t finished my share of food as I am not used to eating lots of meat in just one sitting but I enjoyed my meal very much.

So what happens when you have a group of people eat lunch after a badminton game? This…..

For dessert, R&R’s waitresses goes from table to table showing a big plate full of delicious-looking cakes. I wasn’t able to take a photo as I was busy trying to figure out what to choose–there was a lot and they all looked yummy!!!

My friend Hilda ordered the Triple Chocolate Mousse

while my Husband ordered the Blueberry Cheesecake. Ohhh la la!!!

The cakes were squeezed in-between a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whip cream and syrup. Both cakes were delicious, smooth and not too sweet. Their cakes had the right amount of sweetness that’ll make you finish your cake to the last bit.

Service was efficient and the waitresses were friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable for the delicious food and generous servings.

Ribs and Rumps is located in Sydney Olympic Park (8 Dawn Fraser Avenue, Homebush Bay). They also have branches in Manly, Gordon, North Ryde and Campbelltown.

You can make online bookings (Australia only) via their website: http://www.ribsandrumps.com/

For those in the UAE, their newest branch is in Dubai Mall.

After a long break from playing badminton (due to my wrist tendonitis) I finally went back to the court to play again. And boy, it felt really really good to be playing a sport I’ve loved all my life.

Warmed-up as soon as we arrived. As much as I wanted to play a lot in the two hours that we were there, I psyched myself up to take it easy and spend lots of breaks in between playing. It’s been awhile since I’ve played and I don’t want my muscles to get very shocked, plus I didn’t want to hurt my wrist again.

And then the games began. It felt good to be sweating again. And it felt good to feel those muscles flex and stretch, i love it!

We rented the court for two hours and when the time was up, Evan suddenly hurt his ankle which signalled that playing is indeed over. We hovered around him asking him how he is, when Hilda answered “malayo sa bituka”, we all laughed.

The happy badminton crew…group photo before we left.

The husband took lots of photos of me while playing and when I looked at them, I realized some things:
(a) Na serious din naman pala ako pag pumapalo ng shuttlecock. I laugh and I’m very playful inside the court even when competing pero pala pag game na talaga, serious pala ang face ko haha. I found out (thru the photos) that I have a certain pout when I play.

(b) That sometimes I close my eyes when I smash.
(c) That I move and stretch like a dancer when I try to hit the shuttlecock. I have to thank my training in dancing for that, I never really noticed how I moved inside the court until yesterday.
(d) That there’s a part of me that will once in a while miss competing. I miss wearing my trainers, my Nikes, my racket–holding it and playing with it, bringing tons of water, drinking Gatorade, running towards the game venue from the time I got off my ride as a part of my warm-up, doing warm-ups, late night trainings after school and work (kasi hanggang sa work naglaro ako), being inside the court with nothing on mind but the game and only the game and hanging out with players who eventually became my friends. Lots of good memories and learnings I’ve gained thru this sport.
Now that I’m playing (for recreation only) again, I hope my wrist tendonitis doesn’t come back coz if it does, I would have to put my racket back into storage–which I would’nt want to happen. We’ll see how it goes. For now, I’m just happy that I’m back doing one of the things I love.

My quiet mind
is the foundation

of my inner peace.

I’m a believer of inner peace and the journey to achieving it took a lot of life-changing discoveries for me. I like having a calm mind and a happy gentle disposition. I make sure that whatever I do, it is based on good values I uphold and sincere intentions.

From a forwarded email, let me share this with you:

Be on the lookout for symptoms of inner peace.

The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to inner peace and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world.

Some signs and symptoms of inner peace:
* A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.
* An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
* A loss of interest in judging other people.
* A loss of interest in judging self.
* A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
* A loss of interest in conflict.
* A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.)
* Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
* Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
* Frequent attacks of smiling.
* An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen.
* An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

WARNING: If you have some or all of the above symptoms, please be advised that your condition of inner peace may be so far advanced as to not be curable. If you are exposed to anyone exhibiting any of these symptoms, remain exposed only at your own risk.

The Husband and I had a very busy and physically-taxing weekend. We were non-stop from Friday afternoon working on our guest room til Saturday night.
The Husband took a half-day off work on Friday so he can start assembling the bed. When I got off work, we met at the shops so we can stop by Big W to buy some stuff we need for the home and Woolworths for some weekly grocery shopping.
After dinner, we started painting the bed frame as we wanted it to have a more neutral look. We have no theme for the bedroom as it was a collection of old and new furnitures. The bed frame, mattress and a bedside table were the only ones we bought from Ikea. We have converted a stainless steel cabinet into a clothes cabinet. It came from the Husband’s office (they were giving away free furnitures because they moved to a new building) together with a small bookshelf/bedside table that we decided to use as a bookshelf.

The paint we used was water-based so it was easy to apply, had no smell and dries after six hours of application. The first coating was done on Friday night. A second coating was done on Saturday morning.

On Saturday night, there were a lot of activites at home. Lots of moving furnitures here and there, getting rid of boxes, lifting stuff and going up and down the building to get rid of stuff we don’t need.
There’s still a couple of work to be done but our breakthru was that we had setted up the bed and placed all the other furnitures in their proper places. At least now, the guest room looks like a guest room (it looked like a storage room before) and whoever wants to sleep over now has a place to sleep.

On some kitchen news, I have finally discovered a yummy Tapsilog recipe (thanks to Pinoy Food) . I’ve been craving for Tapislog for the longest time and been planning to cook it for sometime now. So when I found this recipe online, I marinated some beef strips on Saturday morning and cooked it today for our Sunday breakfast.

We love it!!!! It reminded me of gimiks that ended too late but too early for breakfast but you and your friends are already hungry from all that dancing so you stop by a Pares-Pares Restaurant for a hot Tapsilog before going home. Ahhh heaven!
