This was the only Christmasy stuff I bought this year…a tea towel from holySheet!.
Last year, we bought a few Christmas decors since it was our first Christmas together at a place of our own. Husband and I had fun rummaging thru loads of Christmas decors at Myer, it brought out the kid in us.
This year, I told the Husband that we should give ourselves a break from buying Christmas stuff this year. He asked me if I wanted us to have a Christmas tree (the big green one) but I declined. The logical side of me doesn’t want to engage in putting up a Christmas tree only to bring it down after four weeks. I’d rather we spend our money and time unto something more practical. Anyway, what’s important is family togetherness in honor of the birth of Christ and thanksgiving for the year that happened than any trimmings one could find. Maybe some other time we would have a Christmas tree, but not this year.
For this year, I’m just going to bring out our year-old decors. I believe that is enough as the Christmas spirit is in our hearts anyway–sparkly, bright and very very festive.

Hi Ibyang! I know what you mean na ikakabit ang decors then take them down again after a few days. kaya ako I put up the tree right after the All Saints’ day, ganun naman dito sa atin, maaga ang pasko. Then the decors are put away after the Feast of the Three Kings.
Happy holidays!

We also don’t have a christmas tree this year. But my mom madea cute living room table center piece.
I’m looking forward to a beautiful christmas celebration!
Happy Christmas Ms. Ibyang! ^_^

I did the same thing, Ibyang. Considering all the calamities that hit the country, I decided to not shop for more christmas decors which was totally off character for me as I change the christmas tree look every year! The budget for that went to gifts instead … I didn’t even want to install christmas lights outside but the hubby was adamant about feeling the christmas spirit in that way, so up they went! The gift of compromise.
Decorations aren’t important for as long as christmas is in our hearts, right?

This year I brought a tree that you just plug in the wall and it lights up. The tree was cheap, less than $20. I am keeping it simple this holiday.
Happy holidays!

I agree with you about what’s important–but we did put up a tree this year. When I was a kid my parents only kept their tree up only 7 or 8 days–we put it up on Christmas eve and took it down the day after New Year’s. But based on how the trees looked, I think they were free! =)
It really made me happy to see the term “tea towel” in your post. My family called them that, but my wife thinks I’m crazy–her family just called them dish towels.
You have a nice blog. Merry Christmas!
