Things I Love

Chanced upon a home & lifestyle store called Howards Storage World and found a lot of great storage solutions and things useful in our daily life. If I had a lot of money, I’d gladly remodel our home and buy a lot of stuff from their store.  But unfortunately not so I just chose two things that I really needed at the moment.

bobino Cord Wrap.  Since it’s such a hassle to untangle my earphones everytime I take it out of my bag, I just had to buy a Cord Wrap so my earphone cords can be organized.  The Cord Wraps come in different sizes: Small, Medium & Large and can be used for any wires or cables.  Check bobino’s website for more of their products

4-Tier Hanger for Skirts and Trousers.  This 4-Tier Hanger is such a space saver.  I’ve accumulated lots of skirts for the past year (I’ve become a “skirts” girl lately) and it’s a challenge keeping them in separate hangers.  I’m grateful I find this last week and now my skirts are more organized.

I finally got around to using the Banana Case I bought from Morning Glory (Chinatown branch) two months ago.

The Husband's Birthday Staycation (September 2011)
It took me awhile to use it because the prices of Bananas skyrocketed due to the floods in Queensland.  Now, the prices of Bananas have gone lower (less than AUD$4.00 per kilo) so I bought some right away because I’ve missed having them for morning tea.

Things I Love: Banana Case from Morning Glory

I’ve always wanted to buy a case for my banana because I always bring them to work for my morning tea. I’ve seen some stores sell them but found it pricey (from AUD$11.00 to AUD$15.00).   When I visited Morning Glory in September, I found these cases in different colours and for only AUD$2.99!  Such great value for something so useful.

I love it for keeping the Banana I bring to work in “healthy” condition–no bruises and definitely not squashed at all.

Just saw the latest version of the Lotte Duty Free music video and I’m screaming my head off because it’s just so pretty!!!

It now includes Hyun Bin (from the drama Secret Garden), Jang Geun Suk (of You’re Beautiful and Mary Stayed Out All Night) and Kim Hyun Joong (of Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss).  It also includes the only woman in the video, Choi Ji Woo (from Winter Sonata and Can’t Lose).  The K-POP groups looked awesome: 2PM, JYJ and Big Bang.

I love love love it!!!!  The video had a whimsical storybook theme.  Watch and enjoy it!

We seem to have a fascination with chocolates made in Japan.  We’ve heard a lot of raves about Royce and some friends have recommended that we try it too.  Fortunately, the Husband and I received a box of Royce Nutty Bar Chocolate last year and it was one chocolatey pleasure we can’t forget.  Unfortunately Royce Chocolates are not available here in Australia.

Things I Love: Royce Chocolates

So when we vacationed in the Philippines a few months ago, we’d always stop by the Royce ‘store’ (it’s not really a store) whenever we’re in Greenbelt 5 and hoard…yes, the best way to describe the way I shopped for Royce chocolates was hoard.

The Husband is more of a chocoholic between the two of us so we tried the Royce Nama Chocolate.  We chose the Mild Cacao because I love white and he loves dark and we just had to compromise.  The Chocoholic Husband loved it and I liked it.  Like lang (I only liked it) coz it’s too chocolatey for me.

What we bought more of was their Chocolate Bars.  Knowing that we want to bring them home to Sydney, we needed chocolates that has a longer shelf life.  We bought four flavours: Dark, Milk, White and Almond.

I had high expectations on the Royce White but unfortunately for me, it was a miss.  The chocolate was smooth and light.  I was hoping for a richer milk flavour and it missed the mark I was hoping for.  I’d still buy this bar again though but I would never hoard it.

The Husband enjoyed the Milk and Dark flavours.  However, he said he will never consider the Dark flavour as one of his favourites because it wasn’t as rich as well.

What we really loved the most from all the bars was the Almond flavour.  This was a winner for us.  We can finish a bar in one sitting and we felt bittersweet as we enjoyed our last Almond bar at home.  I’m definitely hoarding this again when we chance upon a Royce outlet somewhere.

Our Royce chocolates are all gone now but one of our friends is visiting Singapore soon and she promised she will buy some for me.

So there, other than the Royce Nutty Chocolate, our newest favourites from Royce are the Nama Chocolate and the Royce Almond Bar.

What’s your favourite Royce chocolate?

Living in Australia would usually mean that some chocolates from around the world may not be locally available here.  Our friends from Manila gets shocked when we tell them that we don’t really get to eat some chocolates that we used to have in the Philippines.
One of the chocolate brands that the Husband and I love is Meiji from Japan.  There may be a store here in Australia that sell this brand that we don’t know.  All we know is that we can’t simply find Meiji Chocolates in supermarkets.
Sometimes a friend or a relative or ours would travel to Japan and bring back some Meiji goodies. One of my aunts gave us this Meiji chocolate blocks and it was smooth, delicious and addicting.
When the Husband and I vacationed in Manila in April, we made sure to hoard several Meiji chocolate bars that we can find.

Until now we are still enjoying the last few bars we have.  We are trying to control eating our Meiji chocolates at home to hopefully last us until someone comes to visit us from a country that sells Meiji.
