We are currently loving the macarons and chocolate cake at Via Del Corso. Whenever we find ourselves hanging out at Westfield Sydney food court, we find ourselves having coffee at Via Del Corso. They make good coffee and have a variety of cakes, macarons and handmade chocolates.

Their Chocolate Cake is very rich and moist. According to the Husband, this cake is very  similar to Red Ribbon‘s chocolate cake (Red Ribbon is a famous Filipino cake shop and restaurant in the Philippines) so this one’s a truly winner for us.

I love their macarons especially the Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter macarons.  I swear by this, if you chance upon Via Del Corso macarons, try them and you’ll really enjoy it.

It’s very seldom that we eat at Italian restaurants simply because some Aussie restaurants serve pasta and pizza so we sometimes get our Italian fill from them. I also cook a lot of Italian dishes at home (I cook a pasta dish once a week and I make Pizzas too.) so when we dine out, it’s usually our last resort.
A refreshing dinner date with friends brought us to Casa Di Nico. The place is located at a relaxing atmosphere at King Street Wharf. Going the Italian way is almost always a winner with friends as pasta and pizza are great foods for sharing. It was first time for all of us to dine at Casa Di Nico and it proved to be a good (and delicious) decision. We enjoyed the night filled with loud laughter and great food.
Refreshing Cocktails to start off the night. Midori Splice a concoction of Midori, Malibu, Pineapple and Cream shaken with ice; Tentazione is made up of Midori, Mango Liqueur, Orange Juice and Cranberry Juice; and Strawberry Delight is a refreshing fusion of Malibu, Strawberry Liqueur and Havana Club Rum topped with Pineapple Juice and Strawberries.

Mama Nico’s Entree Selection which consisted of Fried Baby Calamari, Wood Roasted Octopus and stuffed Zucchini Flowers. Enjoyed this immensely as each piece were very tasty. The Octopus was soft and chewy. The Zucchini Flowers crunchy and salty with Feta cheese and olives. The Calamari’s Lemon Mayonnaise was creamy but light.

Linguine Arrabbiata, Fettuccine Carbonara and Prawn Fettuccine. Each pasta dish was comforting and filling. My favourite from the lot was the Arrabbiata as it gave a bit of kick with its spiciness.

Tried Chef’s Gallery in 2010 and this year, we got to eat here again with family and friends. They still serve the delicious Chinese dishes with a modern twist and we still enjoy dining there. Here are few dishes we’ve tried in the past two instances that we’ve eaten there.
Steamed Dimsum Sampling Platter which includes fresh and delicious dumplings: prawn dumpling, vegetable dumpling, chicken and prawn shui mai, spicy prawn dumpling, sticky rice dumpling; and two BBQ pork buns.

Wok-fried Green Beans with Minced Pork. The beans are crunchy and has the perfect kind saltiness.

BBQ Delight. A platter that consists of tender and juicy roast duck and pork, cooked the Cantonese way.

Fried Daikon Radish Cakes with Diced Sausages. This is one of their best dishes. They’re very tasty and will really wet one’s appetite.

Chef's Gallery (Sydney, NSW)

Handmade Egg and Spinach Tofu. One of our favourites at Chef’s Gallery. It’s very tasty and glides softly inside the mouth. The tofu is lightly pan-fried so it’s not oily.

Boneless Pork Ribs with Pork Floss. A must try if you’re eating during dinner time. A sure winner especially to those who love meat with a little salt and spice.

Signature Fluffy Sweet Roti rolled with almond and coconut. Such a comforting dessert as the roti is soft and fluffy.

Totoro Marshmallow. A creative, cute and sweet dessert.

Blace Sesame and Mango Ice Cream. The Mango ice cream was average but I loved their black sesame ice cream!

Steamed Piggy Face Sesame Buns. One of their bestsellers. A must whenever we eat here. We love the sweetness of these cute buns.

In celebration of the Husband’s birthday, we had dinner with one of our group of friends at Braza Churrascaria at Darling Quarter. It was a great place to be on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was festive due to the live music being played, accommodating staff, obliging men going around with skewered meats and happy diners enjoying great food.

Brazilian churrasco is a fun and meaty gastronomic experience anyone could ever experience.  Instead of ordering food, waiters go to each and every table offering different barbequed meats in skewers and patrons are given a slice of their choice.

Braza offers traditional churrasco AUD$47.00 inclusive of all the meats and unlimited side dishes. Drinks are paid separately. They also cater to vegetarians so just let them know that you prefer vegetarian options.

Go & Stop. These little green and red wooden things are a way for the waiters to know if you want more meat or not. If the green is on top, it means they can offer and serve meats to you, if red is on top, it is a sign for them to move along to the next patron. The meats arriving at one’s table can be overwhelming so these Go & Stop signs are a way to pace oneself.

Complimentary Cheese Bread were served as soon as we sat down to our table. I enjoyed it’s sweetness and would have loved to finish more but had to reserve the space inside my tummy for the meats.

Side Dishes. They have a lot of side dishes on offer such as:
– Vinagrette – Tomato Salsa
– Farofa – Roasted Cassava Flour
– Pimentas da Malaguetta – Brazilian Chillies
– Tá Fritos do Braza: Mandioquinha, Banana and Polenta
– Arroz – Yellow Rice
– Feijão Preto – Black Beans
– Maionese de Batata – Potato Salad
– Couve – Kale / Chinese Brocolli
– Salada Loca – Mixed Salad
– Salada Dois – Rocket Salad, Brazil nuts, Orange, Beetroot & Blue Cheese

All side dishes were good partners to the meats but my favourites were the Crumbed Banana, Polenta, Salada Dois, Salada Lica and Tomato Salsa.

Their meats were all flavourful, juicy, tender and perfectly barbequed. I loved it! There were chicken, different parts of beef and pork, lamb, ribs and chorizo.  The best thing is that they also have fish and prawns which makes Braza a real winner. They also have a barbequed Pineapple which was really sweet that it can be considered dessert.

I used to wish that they’d be more Chocolateria San Churro branches in Sydney Metro and what do you know? After my Friday afternoon walk at Darling Harbour, I found myself inside Harbourside mall and voila! a new Chocolateria San Churro branch has opened.

I’ve dinner with friends on Friday night but as you know, my ritual is to have coffee and bit of dessert before I plunge myself into dinner.  I was supposed to have coffee at another cafe but when I saw Chocolateria San Churro, all roads led to him! Haha.

I got myself a cup of long black and two macarons: cookies ‘n cream and peanut butter chocolate. Both macarons were crisp and chewy. If you are not eating Churros, their macarons are a good alternative for a light snack.

Although the star of their menu is chocolate, their coffee drinks are good too as they use the highest-grade of Fairtrade Certified and organic Arabica beans. And to always have that San Churro love, they place a small piece of chocolate on my teaspoon to add sweetness to my strong and rich Long Black.
