What’s in a box?

My Hello Kitty Watch

One of my mom’s pasalubongs (a.k.a. gifts) yesterday:

My Hello Kitty Watch

She also got me two leather watch bands so I can change whenever I want to.

My Hello Kitty Watch

I’m so excited I wore it today!

My Hello Kitty Watch

The Hello Kitty watch they got me is perfect–simple, classic and in white–something I could wear everyday.

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Hello Kitty watch. When I started working, I somehow forgot about my fondness for HK stuff but now, I revived my love for Hello Kitty once again. So when my parents asked me what I want from the Philippines, I remembered that Manila has several Gift Gate shops [we don’t have them here in Sydney 🙁 ] and told them I want an HK watch.

I received tons of other pasalubongs from my mom and dad and my mother-in-law…and even from my friends in Manila. Not only were the gifts great blessings but moreso the friendship and love that they symbolize. I’m thankful that even if I’m so far away and I don’t keep in touch all the time, they send something to me whenever my mom goes on holiday here. I’m blessed and truly grateful.

Whenever my Mom gets a chance to send me something, she always sends me some girly stuff that she thinks I would like. My Mom is my fashionista godmother. She always buys me girly, fasyon stuff from the Philippines and she never fails to amuse me with her gifts.

The latest package she sent included a pair of evening shoes (didn’t take a photo because I will be wearing it to a wedding I’m attending next month) and this shiny hair clip.

My Mama-in-law also plays a generous fairy godmother to me. She always sends me accessories. My mom and her usually have shopping dates together, I sometimes wish I was with them. I can imagine how enjoyable that could be. When my mom sent me this latest package, my Mama-in-law sent me a couple of earrings.

How lucky can I get to have a very thoughtful Mom and have an equally generous Mother-in-law?

Days are numbered for wearing summer outfits so I’m making the most of what’s left with the sunshine. It may be Autumn here now but we are still experiencing warm days (thankgoodness).

The start of Autumn this week, it became cold all of a sudden. Then there was rain for a couple of days. But yesterday, the sunshine was full on. Even if I welcomed the cool breeze of Autumn, I’m not letting go of my sunshine too easily.

On days when my sunshine comes, I shall embrace it fully. And so before it becomes colder in the coming days and before I store away our summer clothes, I wore my sunshiny yellow dress yesterday…

and my foldover clutch bag that I can wear two-ways: as a clutch bag or a handbag.

Selected items at Mango on sale!

Since I can’t go to the city this week, the Husband left work early Friday afternoon and dropped by the Mango store at The Galleries Victoria to buy me a couple of shirts. Thank goodness for the technology of video call–that saved both of us a lot of time from figuring out what I wanted (I’m very choosy when it comes to colors). Thanks Husby for the monthsary gifts :).

That was my mantra yesterday. I’ve been off work for two weeks and as much as I’m grateful that I’m given a chance to recuperate in peace (no calls from the office about work), I miss being productive and on-the-go.
How do you know when I’m bored at home? I practice putting make-up. And that’s what I did yesterday.

During school holidays (high school and college), when I’m bored at home, putting make-up on is one of my past times. Yesterday, I guess I was really bored. For the first time in a long while I practiced putting eyeliner on top of my eyelids. I was trying to achieve the smoky look. I’m not sure I achieved that…but one thing I found out is that dark gray eyeliners make my eyes browner. Sorry about the photo, poor lighting inside our room and I haven’t cleaned mirrors for some time (that’s the white blotches). I just realized now that I should’ve just used the point & shoot camera.

In the afternoon, I had this for afternoon tea.

Cheese and olives. Nilagay ko pa sa toothpick eh pwede ko namang kainin straight from wherever they came from. That’s how bored I was hehe.

Today’s my last day on sick leave. Next week, I start work. I’m having mixed feelings about it. I’m really grateful I was given time off to recuperate (with pay hehe) but a part of me miss being “me”. I’m afraid to admit that I miss work but I do miss it. And I miss going out!!!!

Husband’s coming home early from work today and he’s taking me to see “Avatar” as a reward for being a good girl. Yay!
