Everyday Life

I’m having one of those busy weeks in the office and I’m so glad it’s Thursday today–my last day at work for this week. In a few hours, I will be saying “Hello!” to my weekend. I can’t wait.

I can’t wait because this week, I’ve been feeling really really lazy. If you’re a woman, I guess you know that we have certain days when we just feel so ‘blah’. Like you know you are happy and you are grateful for what everyday brings you but you just have that feeling of so-so. The feeling that you love your job but on some days you just feel tired and you just want to stay home and sleep. Those are my feelings this week and I’ve been managing it by trying to focus on work and laughing my negative feelings away.

Thank goodness, this work week will be over soon and if you are having lazy feelings or blah feelings like me, I hope this photograph cheers you up:

Hehehehe. This photo of a seal trying to get in the photo of penguins cracked me up this morning and it gave me a little boost of energy and happiness at work today. I hope it makes you laugh too.

It’s always the little things that make one happy.

Have you ever wondered who sang the song Cuppycake ringtone?

The “CUPPYCAKE” Song
(Lyrics and Music by Judianna Castle)
.
You’re my Honeybunch, Sugarplum
Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You’re my Sweetie Pie
You’re my Cuppycake, Gumdrop
Snoogums-Boogums, You’re the Apple of my Eye
And I love you so and I want you to know
That I’ll always be right here
And I love to sing sweet songs to you
Because you are so dear

It’s the ringtone a lot of people (including me!) used for their mobile. The Husband found the original recording in youtube. This is worth seeing. The little girl who sang it is sooooo adorable. I recommend you finish the video til the end. Enjoy!

Read below an article by channelnewasia.com regarding help being sent by Australia.

Australia to help Philippine flood victims

SYDNEY: Australia will give up to a million Australian dollars (US$874,920) in aid to the Philippines as it faces a humanitarian crisis caused by the worst flooding in decades, Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said on Tuesday.

Australia’s contribution will include emergency supplies of drinking water, clothing, hygiene kits and other essential items needed for the country to recover from heavy rains brought by tropical storm Ketsana on Saturday.

The Philippines on Monday called for assistance after severe flooding in Manila and surrounding regions left more than 240 people dead and hundreds of thousands seeking shelter in evacuation camps.

“Australia extends its condolences to the communities affected by this disaster,” Smith said in a joint statement with Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance Bob McMullan.

“Australia stands ready to offer further assistance if additional needs are identified by the Philippines government.”

The storm caused the worst flooding in more than 40 years in Manila and other areas of Luzon island and left 80 per cent of the capital under water.

Thanks to my friend Jo for the lead. My heart rejoices for Australia’s generosity. I was actually wondering when they would send help (they always do) and they’re finally doing it. Thanks Australia, you are making Filipino-Australians proud of you.

Even if I don’t live in the Phils and haven’t totally experienced Ondoy’s rage, I feel like I’ve been traumatized too. Everytime I text my parents back home, I always ask whether there are rains or if the sun has come out already. Para lang akong humihingi ng update ng weather sa Phils palagi ngayon. And no, I don’t trust the weather reports of Pag-asa that much. I think regardless of the weather reports, we can only believe up to a certain extent but we always have to BE VIGILANT ALWAYS.

Last night, my Husband and I watched TV Patrol online and it weakens my heart to see the aftermath of the tragedy that happened. Sa bawat kwento na sinasalaysay ng reporters, parang nahuhulog ang puso ko.

According to reports (click this please) there might be two tropical depressions to hit the Phils in the coming days. I’m sharing these prayers below so we can all pray now in the hopes to alleviate or re-direct the storm that may pass by the Philippines again.

Prayer or Blessing Against Storms
Jesus Christ a King of Glory has come in Peace. † God became man, † and the Word was made flesh. † Christ was born of a Virgin. † Christ suffered. † Christ was crucified. † Christ died. † Christ rose from the dead. † Christ ascended into Heaven. † Christ conquers. † Christ reigns. † Christ orders. † May Christ protect us from all storms and lightning † Christ went through their midst in Peace, † and the word was made flesh. † Christ is with us with Mary. † Flee you enemy spirits because the Lion of the Generation of Judah, the Root David, has won. † Holy God! † Holy Powerful God! † Holy Immortal God! † Have mercy on us. Amen!
Another Prayer to Avert Storms and Hurricanes

Father, all the elements of nature obey your command. Calm the storms and hurricanes that threaten us and turn our fear of your power into praise of your goodness. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
