Charmed Life of a Mrs

This Day of Hearts, I want all my girl friends to love themselves more than anything else. You deserved to be loved by YOU.

Here’s an inspiring message I received via email in 2004…

Woman to Woman Encouragement:

Someone will always be prettier.
They will always be smarter.
Their house will be bigger.
They will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.

So let it go, and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it.
The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know-she’s got the car,
the house, the clothes-might be lonely.

And the word says if I have not Love, I am nothing.
So, again, love you.
Love who you are right now
and let God be your barometer.
Mirror Him.
Look in the mirror in the morning and see how much of God you see.
He’s the only standard and even when you come up short;
he will not leave you or forsake you.
Smile and may God continue to BLESS YOU Real GOOD!!

“I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!”
The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance
between your knees and the floor.

“The one who kneels to God can stand up to anything.”

“Winners make things happen. Losers let things happen.”

To all my girl friends, know that you are blessed always! Have an enjoyable Vday!

1. Are you serious when it comes to relationships?
– on a certain extent yes.

2. Are you afraid of commitment?
– yes, i am—i was never fond of commitment of all forms may it be to family, friends or work…but once i’m in, i’m loyal and i never turn my back on them.

3. Are you a risk taker?
– generally speaking yes

4. What can you say about long distance relationships?
two things i’d have to say:
(1) long distance relationships are only for the strong hearted. if you think you can’t do it, let it go. if you’ve tried it and it doesn’t work, let it go.

(2) it’s up to the couple to make life a little bit easier for each other while they’re apart. if the long distance relationship is bringing out the worst of both parties, let it go—it’s not worth it.

5. Can you love a person who doesn’t love you?
– i loved someone who didn’t love me back and all it did was bled me dry and i kinda lost
my self-esteem along the way too. after that, no way, i’d rather be alone
than be with someone who doesn’t give a damn about me.

6. How can you say that a person loves you?
– when he brings out the best in me and tries his best not to hurt me.

7. Are you good in handling relationships?
– with my last boyfriend (who is now my husband) i think i became good at handling relationships

8. Willing to give everything?
– in a logical sense yes

9. Best thing you have learned from loving?
– that love should start from you–love yourself first…then the rest will follow. you don’t give up what is important to you in the hopes that a guy will love you–you just don’t! if you love yourself, you will find someone who has the same values as you.

10. Do you demand your loved one to change into someone you like to?
– no

11. Would you let go of someone you love?
– yes, love lets go.

12. Is sex important in a relationship?
– yes, i believe a couple should also be sexually compatible

13. What is the major reason of a break up?
– loss of respect from either one of the parties involved

14. Most important ingredient/s in a relationship?
– sense of humour, appreciation of even the smallest of things, friendship, teamwork

15. Ever regret loving someone?
– no, everyone i’ve loved will always be considered a friend.

16. One thing you hate about love?
– that sometimes it blinds you

17. One thing you like about love?
– that it inspires you, that it brings out the best in you

18. Worst thing you did to a loved one?
– hurt them??? i know i’m vague but i haven’t really done anything catastrophic to hurt someone so bad.

19. Are you in love?
– yes

20. What do you feel right now?
– happy and inspired

21. Do you flirt?
– of course, but only to my man

22. Cheated/have been cheated on?
– yes to both questions hahaha

23. Does the person you love knows you love him?
– yes, he knows very much how much he means to me

24. Have you been caught red handed?
– no, i’m smart hehehe

25. What attracts you most?
– on physical attributes, it’s always the man’s eyes that gets my attention. but as a whole, i’m usually taken with someone who’s fascinatingly fun, smart and creative.

The sun shone a bit this morning so I brought Mrs. Kanyon with me to the supermarket.

I’m very fortunate to be living near a park with a lake and what’s good is that it is strategically on the way to the supermarket. What joy to have the luxury to walk buying fresh goodies to and from the grocery store!

At 11:05am, on my way to the supermarket, the lake looked like this…

woodcroft lake

Spend about 15 minutes taking shots here and there but didn’t stay long as clouds were already forming over the horizon. And so I had to continue walking towards the grocery store.

The reason why I went to the supermarket today was because I needed to buy ingredients for a dip that I wanted to make and bread to go with that dip. When I’m all done with that, I walked back home and as usual, I had to pass by the park. It was about 12:00noon and this was the sight the awaited me…

dark horizon

It was such an amazing sight to behold!!!! I have only seen clouds forming like that here in Australia. It looked scary but I was more in awe at how immaculate God has made such a creation. It was terrfyingly beautiful.

You can probably understand why after about 10 shots, I had to walk home fast. Even if I had an umbrella with me, I didn’t want to get my camera and groceries wet.

When I arrived home, it took about 10 minutes for the rain to finally fall. Very angry rain that was. I just had a quick lunch and a little bit of net surfing, then in a few minutes fell asleep inside my room listening to the rain. And this time, no more bad dreams.

KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!

According to this website:

A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal. This is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start. Ventures begun now may not yield fast returns, but opportunities will come for people who are well prepared and resourceful. The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly, and make the most of every opening you can find. People born in an Earth Rat are said to be logical realists, shrewd, charming, ambitious, and inventive. Of course, the entire horoscope must be considered when making any personality assessment.

And according to this other website:

The Rat year is a year of plenty, bringing opportunity and good prospects. It will be marked by speculation and fluctuations in the prices of commodities and the stock market; the world economy in general will boom. Business will be on the upswing, fortunes can be made and it will be an easy time to accumulate wealth. However, this is also the time to make long-term investment plans as the bonanza the year of the Rat brings will serve to see us through the bleak years that may follow. All ventures begun at this time will be successful if one prepares well. But do not take chances or unnecessary risks: the year of the Rat is still ruled by the cold of winter and the darkness of night. Those who speculate indiscriminately and overextend themselves will come to a sad reckoning.

On the whole, this will be a happier year than most: free from explosive events and wars and with far less catastrophes than, say, the years of the Tiger or the Dragon.

Nonetheless, it will be spicy. It promises a lot of bickering, bargaining and petty arguments that will do little harm. A congenial time that will find most of us socializing and enjoying ourselves.

Not many people know this but I LOVE Chinese celebrations and traditions. Anything positive that will bring me good luck, i love it!–and yes, I follow some of it =)

Believe it or not, Chris and I celebrate the Chinese New Year and Mooncake Festival…but no, we don’t celebrate by going to Chinese festivities (at least we haven’t hehehe)…we do it our own way: by going to Starbucks and just greeting each other “Kung Hei Fat Choi” (during Chinese New Year) and by sharing mooncakes over a cup of coffee (during Moon Cake Festival). And one of our traditions before was to give mooncakes to our parents as well. We have no deep reason for celebrating such festivities but I guess one reason is that we both have this kind of respect for other culture per se and we see nothing wrong celebrating their festivities even if we are Pinoys. We find it fun and we learn something from other people’s traditions.

Even our wedding date was somehow influenced by Chinese feng shui. We consciously wanted an auspicious Saturday to get married and one of the reasons why we wanted a January 2007 wedding was because it was still considered Year of the Dog which is a good year to get married (that year having two springs in one year).

And I guess, when we thought about our honeymoon destination, our first response was Hongkong (there was nothing else on our mind but that country), as in both of us wanted to go to Hongkong and we were lucky we went there a week before the Kung Hei Fat Choi 2007 celebrations where we feasted our eyes with their new year decors (see current headshot).

For this Chinese New Year, let me celebrate with you by sharing eight (8) tips in order to have a prosperous and lucky Year of the Rat:

  1. Get rid of clutter in the home. De-clutter and give away stuff you don’t need to the less fortunate or in need. This will have a good karmic effect on your life.
  2. Clean up, dust the cobwebs away. This is a way to energize your surrounding by getting rid of “negative” dirt.
  3. Confucius says “When things go wrong, don’t go with them”.
  4. Make peace with yourself and with everyone.
  5. Repeat this mantra: “I am open to positive change in any form it takes.”
  6. The Year of the Rat is a good year for marriage, so what are you guys waiting for? *wink* (magpro-propose na kayo!)
  7. Expect a congenial year, so spend time with loved ones: socialize, socialize!
  8. Make a change. New year signifies new beginnings. With the change comes new energy.

May all of us have prosperous, peaceful and happy Year of the Rat!

Everyday I never forget that I’m blessed. Of course, I do have problems and my life isn’t perfect but that is reality, that is life per se. But time and time again, I’m reminded that I may not have everything I want in life, but the one up there surely gives me what is enough to make me feel loved and blessed. And he has reminded me this lots of time during the course of my birthday celebrations.

Imagine having a weeklong birthday celebration? Imagine having so many people greet me via phone, email, SMS, Friendster, Blogspot, Multiply? Imagine receiving gifts from the husband, parents, relatives and friends?

My birthday may have been incomplete, but someone up there is always making sure that I have a lot to thank for in my here and now.

With my birthday week over, I just had one final gift to myself—and that is a day-off .

So last Saturday, I went off to the mall and had some Me time. I kinda missed myself you know? hehehehe. I haven’t been having day-offs lately coz I’m saving them up for later travel.

And so I went and did a couple of errands, went around looking at stuff. As a birthday gift to myself, I got me a DVD of The Lake House and The Notebook. I only wanted The Lake House actually but it was part of the 2 DVD collection thingy and it was on sale, so why not?

Then, I celebrated my last birthday hurrah at Starbucks with a cup of my favorite Americano…

and by watching a movie!

My day was perfect!!!! The movie was very funny and romantic and not so cheesy…it was the perfect anniversary movie (even if husband is away) as it made me remember my own wedding day. If you haven’t seen this film, I suggest you watch it.

Here’s a little tip for you: Never ever forget to give a gift for yourself on your birthday–it could be anything cheap or extravagant, it could be some time alone, it could be something you’ve been wanting to do, it could be something you haven’t done before–it doesn’t matter what. What’s important is that you are able to make yourself feel that you are loved by you and that you are blessed. Love yourself…you deserve it!
