Litratong Pinoy

This is my entry to Litratong Pinoy’s theme Tatak Pinoy.

The last time I vacationed in the Philippines in December 2006, I was happy to see Jeepneys again. When I lived in Sydney, I missed getting on Jeepneys: its vibrant colours, the noise it makes, the way I say “Please pull over” and the different character-types of drivers.

Once I was able to see the kids of Boracay go to school. The only two things I felt at that time: happiness and admiration.

I was happy because I saw in their faces the excitement and joy they felt because of the privilege of being able to study. I admired them because even if the things they needed for school were incomplete, they are still full of hope that one day they will graduate.
